“Coming to Pardes, I knew I wanted to write. The teachers here exposed me to the depth and variety of the stories in Midrash. Now I have started to create my own Midrash focusing on the unknown and vilified characters in the Tanakh. At the same time, I’m teaching middle school children English through the Jerusalem African Community Center.”

Rachael is a native San Francisco Bay Area native. She went to UCLA for her undergraduate degree in English. She is Pardes’ resident midrashic writer with plans to pursue a career in elementary school education after her year here.
