VIDEO: Rezoning, Sustainability, and Excavations

We are thrilled to share some exciting updates on the progress of our new building! On January 8th, the decision was officially published in the government gazette, and we are pleased to announce that the rezoning for the residential tower is now complete! This is a significant milestone in our project, and we are excited to move forward with the next steps.

The zoning has been changed from Commercial/Industrial to Mixed Urban, Open Public Space, Public Square, Path. The final rezoning includes a six-story base that will feature Pardes, commercial space, cultural space, two nursery school spaces, and a synagogue space. Additionally, there will be a 24-story tower that will be all residential, including four floors of diyur mugan for people over 55, as well as two technical floors for machinery. We are thrilled that 40% of the lot will become zoned as public space, including the piazza in front, the path along the side, and the area behind the Pardes garden in the back.

To ensure that our building meets our high standards of sustainability, the entire building must obtain an environmental rating of 3 stars, and Pardes is committed to achieving 4 stars. As part of this commitment, bicycle parking and a recycling center will be included in the design.

If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out our newest video discussing how Beit Karen will be built with sustainability in mind:

We are also happy to report that excavation is now in full swing and is moving at a much quicker pace than before. Most of the lot has been excavated down about 10 meters, and we are currently working on reinforcing the western wall of the lot. Once this work is completed, the ramp will be built back up to allow for the dirt to be removed and for new equipment to be brought in.

We are incredibly grateful for your support and enthusiasm for this project, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we continue to move forward. Thank you for your continued commitment to our community.
