Ruthie Gopin

“I am grateful to Pardes because I already feel like I have a much deeper knowledge than I did walking in just a few months ago. My vocabulary has grown, and words that I didn’t even know before are now second nature. The connections that are made every day, whether it’s between a letter in the Torah and a Midrash, or between two separate stories in the Tanakh, or between a minute halachic distinction and a much larger moral implication, are fascinating to explore – especially alongside the brilliant faculty and students that enter Pardes every day.”

Ruthie grew up in the Washington D.C. area with her parents and two younger siblings. She attended McGill University, where she studied International Development and Social Entrepreneurship. Ruthie came to Pardes for the year to deepen her knowledge of Jewish texts and traditions. After Pardes she is interested in pursuing a career in the NGO sector, in program development and project management. She loves to find missing links, whether it’s finally figuring out that one word that makes everything clear in the Talmud sugiya she is learning or that one method that makes the excel sheet run more efficiently.
