Joshua Hooper (Experiential Educators Program)

When I first arrived at Pardes, I thought a lot about whether I had made the right decision; should I be studying Torah here? Am I the right person for this environment?  All these questions and the like were laid to rest as soon as I found myself studying in the Beit Midrash with my peers.  This is a place of shefa… I am part of a community that is partaking in the fruits of the Torah; it’s truly a beautiful experience to be a part of.

“As an artist and someone who thinks a lot about the essence of words, levels of communication, interpretation, and methods of translating my learning into forms of visual expression — Pardes has provided with a well of resources and the necessary support to encourage my exploration and practice.  In addition, as an educator, it has been a tremendous benefit being exposed to certain teaching styles that model what it is to be a bridge for our Jewish communities that promote their further growth through meaningful experiences to enrich their Jewish identity.

“In our daily prayers, our hearts are directed towards the rebuilding of Yerushalayim… Learning Torah here is truly an embodiment of this prayer and what a blessing to also witness it!

“I am looking forward to the continuing stages of my work, creating bridges between Israel and our communities in the diaspora…
