Jonah Potasznik (Day School Educators Program)

“The other night at Pardes, I sat in chevrutah with a friend. She has an arts background and likes talking about feelings, I’m an organizer and prefer my head to my heart. At some point during the class, our learning transitioned into an earnest conversation about how to transform Jewish education in America, which was actually encouraged by our teacher as he came to check on our progress. This dreaming, this support for the dreaming, and this availability of resources- both material and human- to make the dreaming a reality, can only happen at a place like Pardes. And that’s why I love it!”

I was born and raised in the Washington, D.C. area and self-identify as a “camp and youth movement” Jew. (Ultimate Frisbee plays a large role in my Jewish identity.) After graduating from the University of Maryland in 2014, I worked as a director for a pluralistic Jewish youth movement. Working and learning with teenagers was inspiring for me, and is a big part of why I am at Pardes today: to help young people connect to their Jewish community and their Jewish tradition.
