Anya Morgulis

“What I find to be particularly meaningful learning at Pardes is the opportunity to balance our learning of traditional Jewish texts in the Beit Midrash with exploring the land of Israel and understanding it’s history. I have found new meaning in the deep connection of Eretz Yisrael with the meaning of the texts we are learning.”

Anya Morgulis was born in the former Soviet Union and moved to America with her family at age three. Being part of the small Jewish community in Charlottesville, Virginia was an integral part of her family’s transition and the positive community experiences she had there helped to shape her career. While earning her B.S. in Psychology at Virginia Tech, Anya became an active student volunteer and leader at her local Hillel chapter, which led to working for Hillel. Working for Hillel allowed Anya to give back to the organization and the community in southwest Virginia and, during this time, she was recognized for her leadership on campus and creativity in programming. In 2016/2017, Anya participated in the Pardes Experiential Educators Progam, allowing her the opportunity for more formalized Jewish text study. Anya is a second year fellow at Pardes while beginning her journey with the Jewish Theological Seminary in pursuing a masters degree is Jewish Education.
