Program Description

The Pardes Experiential Educators Program is designed to enrich the careers of experiential Jewish educators through classical Jewish text study, increased Jewish literacy, professional seminars and active participation in the dynamic and diverse community of Pardes.

The William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education of The Jewish Theological Seminary trains educators who go on to define the field of Jewish education and shape Jewish experience in schools, start-ups, congregations, nonprofits, and beyond. 

The Rabbinical School of The Jewish Theological Seminary offers intensive study of classical texts in an egalitarian setting, training students to be transformative Jewish rabbis. 

Together, Pardes and JTS train outstanding rabbinic leaders for whom Jewish education is their calling. Within this collaborative arrangement, a year of study at Pardes followed by a year of study at The William Davidson Graduate School of Jewish Education count towards one year of rabbinical studies at JTS, making the joint program a six-year rabbinical studies and master’s program instead of a seven-year endeavor.

Year 6 of 6 Rabbinical School, NYC Student matriculates into fifth and final year of JTS Rabbinical School

 Graduates of this joint program earn a Certificate in Jewish Studies from Pardes; a Master of Arts in Jewish Education through The William Davidson School of The Jewish Theological Seminary; and rabbinic ordination from The Rabbinical School of The Jewish Theological Seminary.

  1. BA with above-average GPA
  2. Experience with Jewish text study and Hebrew language
  3. Previous professional experience in experiential Jewish education

Students will apply to The William Davidson School and Pardes in preparation of the first two years of the program. Students will then apply to The Rabbinical School in year 2.

  • Online application to both Pardes and The William Davidson School
  • An official transcript of academic records from all colleges and universities
  • Placement tests for Hebrew language and text levels
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Personal essay
  • Interview

Employment in North America in experiential Jewish education or Jewish professional leadership a minimum of two years upon completion of the program. 

The Pardes Experiential Educators Program is completely subsidized. Benefits include:

  • Pardes tuition fully funded for one academic year
  • Ulpan tuition fully funded
  • Living stipend of $800 per month for up to 10 months

Students will apply to The William Davidson School and Pardes in preparation of the first two years of the program. Students will receive funding towards tuition from Davidson in years 1 and 2. Students will then apply to The Rabbinical School in year 2. Years 3-6 students will receive funding towards tuition from The Rabbinical School.

In some cases, Pardes coordinates such payments directly with the relevant organizations, institutions or programs; in other cases, the students themselves will need to coordinate these payments.
