Text-based Learning Seminar Brings Together Participants from Diverse Jewish Backgrounds
Jerusalem, Israel – June 26, 2007 (10 Tammuz) – American professionals and community leaders of diverse Jewish background will be visiting Israel to participate in the Pardes Executive Learning Seminar in Jerusalem. The theme of the ninth annual week-long seminar, led by Pardes director Rabbi Daniel Landes and veteran senior faculty member Rabbi Meir Schweiger, is Abraham and Sarah Rediscovered: Our Quest for Authenticity and Meaning.
“The intense learning at Pardes renews me intellectually and spiritually every time I come, providing me with a vital break from my work,” said American Pardes Foundation Board Member David Lonner, co-head of the Motion Picture Department at the William Morris Agency in Los Angeles.
"This is a must do week for the serious adult learner – with world class teachers, ancient texts and good old fashioned fun!" said Marlin Barad, a Jewish Community Activist in Denver, Colorado. Marlin and her husband attended the Seminar last year and are returning this year.
Seminar participants will explore issues such as faith and reason, idolatry, humanism and morality through the lens of classic and modern texts; meet with journalists, authors and academics; and visit historical sites related to the Seminar’s theme.
