Local Leader Elected President Of American Pardes Foundation, Continuing To Bridge The Denominational Divide
New York, NY - December 8, 2008 - Michael Rosenzweig of Atlanta has been elected President of The American Pardes Foundation, which serves as the U.S. arm of the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem.
Mr. Rosenzweig, who was previously Vice President of the American Pardes Foundation Board of Directors, is an alumnus of the Institute.
Newly elected Mr Rosenzweig said: "I am very proud to be continuing my association with Pardes in this new role. Pardes is a unique place, successfully bringing together young people regardless of denomination, to study classical Jewish texts and contemporary issues at the highest levels. The result is some of the best teachers and leaders in the Diaspora and in Israel and I am committed to my part in nurturing the special learning environment for which Pardes is renowned."
Mr. Rosenzweig has had significant experience overcoming the denominational divide among young people as the founding president of the transdenominational Jewish day high school in Atlanta, the Weber School. He has also been active with the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, the Epstein School (Solomon Schechter School of Atlanta), the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. Professionally, he was in private practice as a corporate and securities lawyer in Atlanta, most recently as a senior partner in the Atlanta office of McKenna Long & Aldridge.
Rabbi Daniel Landes, Director of the Pardes Institute, welcomed Mr Rosenzweig's appointment: "Michael is a huge asset for Pardes, combining vision and commitment to the values behind Pardes. I have no doubt that he will help us push the Institute to new frontiers in the coming years."
