PCJE Project Underway to Change Tefilah in Schools

With the support of the AVI CHAI Foundation, the Pardes Center for Jewish Educators (PCJE) has embarked on a two year pilot project in the area of tefilah with five NY area Jewish day schools. The goal is to help each school bring about some change in their tefilah program. The five schools (Bi-Cultural, Carmel, Golda Och and Heschel) each sent a team of four middle school teachers and administrators to the first gathering, which was held at the Heschel School from December 4-6.

Pardes faculty Rabbi Zvi Hirschfield and Dr. Susan Wall, worked with the participants in reflecting on themselves as mitpalelim (pray-ers) and in studying about different approaches to tefilah. The group will meet again in March, and additional training will take place via webinars.

This advances the work PCJE began with the two tefilah conferences in North America in the summers of 2015 & 2016.
