Governor of Mississippi Attends Pardes Tel Aviv Lunch & Learn

On November 29, Pardes Israel Board Chair Sherwin Pomerantz brought a few special guests of a Mississippi trade mission to the Pardes Tel Aviv Fall 2016 Lunch & Learn. This was held at Tadmor & Co. Yuval Levy & Co. in Azrieli Center, hosted by partner Elie Sprung.

Rabbi Dr. Daniel Roth led the program in which he asked if advocates of justice can also be pursuers of peace, exploring Jewish law regarding the relationship of din (strict justice), peshara (compromise) and redifat shalom (pursuing peace). Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, Aide-de-Camp John Bartley Boykin, Mississippi Development Authority Deputy Director Dr. Mike McGrevey and Consul General of Israel in Miami Lior Haiat participated.

This was Governor Bryant’s third visit to Israel in the last two years – more than any other US state governor. Afterwards, he reflected on his first Pardes learning experience, “I am amazed that people here take time out of their work day to study topics discussed and debated centuries ago. This is something all of us could learn from. It reminded me of my days in church school. We were happy to be invited and enjoyed being with the participants.”
